About Us
Sweet Rowen Farmstead is a grass-based, family-owned business and a Northeast Kingdom treasure. At Sweet Rowen, the cows are family, each with their own name and personality. They get fresh pasture daily, along with hay that the farm workers grow and cut themselves, preserving that rich summer energy for the winter months. You can taste the difference in Sweet Rowen's unrivaled milk and other dairy products.
Practices
Sweet Rowen Farmstead milks a small herd of Vermont Heritage Lineback cows, a regional ecotype from the Northeast Kingdom. Linebacks were allowed to evolve naturally on Vermont pasture, making them uniquely suited to the native climate. While the products are not currently certified organic, many of the farming practices meet organic standards, often going above and beyond to ensure responsible environmental stewardship. All Sweet Rowen products are GMO-free and produced using A2/A2 transition milk from their pasture-raised cows. They bottle their own gently pasteurized, cream-top whole milk and make cheese, yogurt, and dip at their wood-fired creamery in Vermont’s Northeast Kingdom. Additionally, all cheeses are made using vegetarian rennet.
