FUNJ Shrooming Company is a certified organic operation employing a range of sustainable best practices including renewable energy implementation and use of agricultural water steam byproducts as a growth substrate for its mushrooms. FUNJ uses agriculture waste byproducts such as hardwood sawdust and organic soybean hulls to grow its mushrooms, and then the spent mushroom substrate goes on to compost in people's gardens or at other farms to keep growing more food. It is a slow and circular cycle of nutrients that benefits a sustainable food system! Additionally, the retail packaging is made of cardboard and bio-based ink, which allows customers to compost the package right at home if they choose.
